Laurie Williams Samuels is a native Memphian, where she lives with her husband and two children. As a full time artist, she is associated with the Memphis Brush and Palette, Memphis/Germantown Art League, Artist Link, Atelier Studio and the Tennessee Watercolor Society.

Laurie studied art as a child at Memphis College of Art and continued her art education throughout high school. In 1980, she graduated from the University of Mississippi with a BA in design. Her design degree took her into interior design, where she met her husband, Harry. His family business, Samuels Furniture & Interiors, has been a fixture in Memphis since 1916. Laurie still does limited design work as well as buying.

Laurie's work can be viewed in the Blackwater Gallery at Samuels Furniture and Interiors at 5508 Poplar Avenue, and at Southside Gallery at 150 Courthouse Square in Oxford, Mississippi. She works in watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. Her work has won numerous regional and national awards.
